SYRACUSE -- More than half a million dollars is headed to Syracuse's Hancock Airport.
Senators Charles Schumer (D), New York and Kirsten Gillibrand (D), New York announced the $674,500 transportation grant. The funds will be used to design the construction of a building to house and protect snow removal equipment from the harsh Syracuse winters. They money will also support a building for sand and chemical storage, and it will be used to conduct an airport pavement management study to determine how to prioritize capital improvement projects. The grant will also be used to rehabilitate existing apron pavement.
"This is great news for the passengers and pilots that fly in and out of Hancock Airport every day," Schumer said. "With this funding, the airport can make renovations that will ensure passenger safety and the smooth operation of the facility.?
"These are important investments for Hancock International," Senator Gillibrand said. "These federal dollars will help provide critical upgrades to improve the airport and provide better service for travelers."
