Declining membership is reason
A church that's been a cornerstone of Syracuse's Northside is closing, after 110 years. The Friedens Church of Christ, at Ash and Lodi Streets, has decided to close because of declining membership. The church was founded by German immigrants, most of whom have moved away from the Northside neighborhoods.
The public closing celebration is on Saturday at 1pm, with a final service for church members on Sunday morning.
