FORT DRUM (AP) -- The White House says President Barack Obama will visit troops at New York's Fort Drum this week.
The announcement comes as Obama nears a decision on beginning the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Obama could announce as early as this week how many troops will start coming home next month.
The Army base in upstate New York is home to the 10th Mountain Division, one of the most deployed divisions sent to both Afghanistan and Iraq.
White House officials wouldn't say whether Obama planned to make his announcement on troop withdrawals during his trip to Fort Drum.
