SYRACUSE -- A video posted on YouTube has the attention of top leaders at Syracuse University.
The video, which was edited and captioned, was uploaded to YouTube Thursday by students who say they were racially taunted. The students who recorded it say it happened late at night recently at an off campus apartment in the 600 block of Walnut Avenue.
The unidentified students say a man, who appears to be intoxicated in the video, was shouting anti-Asian American slurs at them without provocation.
CNY Central reached out to the university Friday, and they say they’re investigating the incident. Kevin Quinn, SU senior vice president for public affairs, said in a statement on his Twitter account that "We're aware of the video and are investigating the facts surrounding it. We take matters like this extremely seriously."
The video has been making the rounds and sparking debate on university-related social media circles. It has even caught the attention of a blog run by SU students. (warning: possible objectionable language).
UPDATE: We had originally embedded the video into a player below, but YouTube says the video has been removed by the user since the original publication of this story.
