911 problem fixed for Verizon customers in Cicero

CICERO -- Thousands of Verizon customers in Cicero can call 911 again.

Shortly after 11:30 Monday morning, Verizon landline phone customers in Cicero with phone numbers starting with 699 and 698 were not able to call 911 for emergency help. They were told to use a cell phone, or call other numbers.

According to Verizon, 7,000 landline customers were affected by the outage. The problem was fixed in about an hour.
