UTICA -- Six people are facing charges in a drug bust in Utica. Authorities executed search warrants in Utica Thursday, seizing cocaine, money and a handgun.
State police, the Oneida County Drug Task Force and the Oneida County District Attorney's Office teamed up in the investigation.
27-year-old Jessica Harris, of 9639 Rt. 274 in Remsen, is accused of possessing about 8 grams of cocaine. Police say they also found plastic bags with cocaine reside and a small amount of marijuana in the car she was riding in. Harris was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. The driver, 27-year-old Dana Carlson, of 78 Denton Ave. in Whitesboro, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Police also executed a search warrant at 1754 Armory Drive in Utica. Investigators say they found more than 14 packaged quantities of suspected cocaine with a total combined weight of over 21 ounces, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, about $1,100 in cash, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of suspected marijuana. 26-year-old Michael Smith was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.
When police pulled Smith over, police say they found three plastic bags of approximately 8 grams of suspected cocaine. Police say 27-year-old Deannya Bouse, of 642 Eagle Street in Utica, was a passenger in the car. She's charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Lashorn Sparrow and Tamitha Karriem are also facing charges in the case. They were arrested three weeks ago.
