PFC James Waters was killed in Afghanistan on Friday.

A Tenth Mountain Division soldier on duty in Afghanistan was killed on Friday, when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Sartak, Kandahar Province.

The Defense Department says Private First Class James Waters, 21, from Cloverdale, Indiana was an infantryman with the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Compat Team.  He first came to Ft. Drum in January 2010, and had deployed to Afghanistan in March of this year.
