Lots of FREE music, family entertainment
It's the week for the physical preps for Blues Festival: organizers will be putting up the two stages, the family fun area, and the food area--15 vendors will be selling all styles of food, plus beer and wine.
Todd Fitzsimmons, President of the NY State Blues Festival says the talent lineup includes a unique 'local' attraction: the SOS Band (it stands for Soul of Syracuse), which will feature the area's best blues musicians doing solos, backed up by a full horn section and more, in review style.
Among the national headliners, Mojo Myles Mancuso, who's a 15 year old sensation. Fitzsimmons says he'll be performing on the stage near the children/family attractions on Friday, in hopes that some of the young people who see him get inspired to also pick up a guitar and continue the music legacy. Check the Blues Festival Website for the complete schedule of free performance times, and more .
The move, from Clinton Square to the Syracuse Inner Harbor, is one big change for this, the 25th anniversary edition of Blues Fest. Fitzsimmons says there's more space, and plenty of dockage for people who want to come by water, or listen from their boats. The other big change is the effort at making this a more family-oriented festival, with rides, games and more for younger festival goers. Blues Fest starts on Friday, and runs right through Sunday.
