SCRIBA -- One person is killed in an ATV crash in Oswego County.

Sheriff's Deputies say it happened around 11:00 Wednesday night on County Route 4 in the Town of Scriba.

The driver was identified as Joseph E. Brown, 28, of 460 O’Connor Road in Oswego.

Investigators say the Brown was the only person riding the ATV. He was taken to Oswego Hospital and pronounced dead.

According to Sheriff's Deputies, the ATV went off the road and smashed into a utility pole. Investigators say Improper lane usage appears to have been a contributing factor in the incident.

Brown was riding alone at the time, and was wearing a helmet.
