GLENFIELD, LEWIS CO. -- A Glenfield man is under arrest after police say he injured a Lewis County sheriff's deputy.
Deputies say 32-year-old James Eagan was illegally driving a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle on Main Street in Glenfield on the 4th of July. Reports say Deputy Daryl Ortlieb tried to stop Eagan, but he kept driving at a faster speed and dragged the deputy along the road.
Police say Ortleib hurt his knee during the incident, which will require surgery. He has returned home from the hospital.
Eagan turned himself in at Lewis County Court on Friday. He is charged with felony aggravated assault and unlawfully fleeing a police officer. He was arraigned on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond and sent to the Lewis County Justice Center. Police say Eagan could face more charges pending possible grand jury action.
