Derek Jeter has provided Yankee fans with many memorable moments over the years. You can add another one to the list Saturday afternoon.
Jeter launched a 3-2 pitch into the left field stands for his 3,000th hit, the first Yankee to reach that milestone, and only the second player in history to get his 3,000th hit with a home run.
Jeter entered the game 2 hits short of the mark. A 1st inning single gave him hit number 2,999, setting the stage for the 3rd inning history. Both of Jeter's hits today came off Ray's starter David Price.
The Yankee captain is now the 28th member of the 3,000th hit club. Wade Boggs is the only other player in history to hit a home run for number 3,000.
