Custom cars, 'Happy Days' cast and more
The custom cars, hundreds of them, are on their way to Syracuse for the 12th annual Nationals, set for Friday to Sunday at the State Fairgrounds. On Sunday, there were already people camped out at the State Fairgrounds, waiting for it all to get started.
Bob McLean, with the Right Coast Association, which organizes the show, says it has grown beyond a car expo: there are vendors and lots of workshops and demonstrations and 'celebrities' to show off customizing vehicles. There's a 'million dollar garage' with 12 of the best custom cars--the very best will be selected (and the winner gets $5,000). A Richard Petty NASCAR tribute car will be on display. There's a 'woman's world' expo with non-automotive vendors and exhibitors. Henry Winkler makes a return celebrity appearance, and McLean says he liked it so much when he was here a couple years ago, that he's bringing other 'Happy Days' cast members, so besides The Fonz, you can meet Mrs. C (Marion Ross), Joanie (Erin Moran) and Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams).
The cars are still the heart of the event, and besides being on display, they cruise---look for them at area restaurants over the weekend! Until Thursday, there are discount tickets to the Fairgrounds events at Nice n Easy groceries. For more on the schedule, check the Right Coast Cars website
