Highway work and detours this week

Here is a list of some of the projects the New York State Department of Transportation is working on this week. These projects could cause delays, backups and necessitate detours.

LONG TERM SPECIAL EVENT IN ONONDAGA COUNTY:
 
Parkway Sundays (Exclusive Access for Pedestrians and Bicyclists)
 9 am to 12 Noon Sunday Mornings, from Sunday, July 10 through Sunday, August 28.
Route 370 Eastbound and Westbound: “Onondaga Lake Parkway” section closed to all  motorized traffic.
Details for Detour: Utilize Old Liverpool Road for both directions of travel.


SHORT-TERM PROJECTS: ONONDAGA COUNTY
 
Bridge Repair
Continuous (24 hours per day) now through July 13
I-690 Westbound Mainline: Reduced to one lane, left lane closed from the on-ramp from I-81 north to Exit 11 (West Street).

Bridge Repair
5:30 am Tuesday, July 5 continuous (24 hours a day, 7 days per week) through approximately July 13.
I-690 Westbound Mainline: Reduced to one lane, left and center lanes closed, between Lodi Street and Townsend Street.  When this lane closure is first put in place, it will continue to Exit 11 (West Street) until the bridge repair being performed over Salina Street has been completed.  After the Salina Street bridge repair completion, this closure   will be reduced in length to between Lodi and Townsend Streets.

Bridge Joint Repair
Monday, July 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.:
I-690 Eastbound: Reduced to one lane, left and center lanes closed, at Liberty Street.

Bridge Deck Repairs
Tuesday, July 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.:
I-690 Eastbound: Reduced to one lane, left and center lanes closed, between Leavenworth and Van Rensellaer Streets.

The short term “Pavement Rehabilitation” entries listed below are a posting of the tentative schedule as of 3 p.m. Friday, July 8, for the milling (pre-paving surface preparation) and paving operations on the I-81 pavement rehabilitation project currently under way between Mattydale and Cicero in Onondaga County.

Paving

Tuesday, July 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
Ramp Closures
I-81 Northbound ramp to I-481 Southbound;
I-481 Southbound ramp to I-81 Northbound;
I-81 Northbound ramp to Route 31

Wednesday, July 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
I-481 Northbound ramp to I-81 Northbound
I-81 Northbound ramp to I-481 Northbound
I-81 Southbound ramp to Route 31

Thursday, July 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
I-81 Southbound ramp to I-481 Northbound
I-481 Northbound ramp to I-81 Southbound.
Route 31 on ramp to Southbound I-81

Detours will be posted.

Milling
Monday, July 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.:
Ramp Closures to work on the Northbound Frontage Road
On-ramp from Col. Eileen Collins Blvd (Airport Road) to I-81 Northbound;
Details for Detour: Eileen Collins Boulevard to South Bay Road, right on South Bay Road to Taft Road to I-81 north.

Route 11 ramp to I-81 Northbound; Ramp access to Hancock International Airport and Taft Road will also be unavailable.
Details for  Airport Detour: North on South Bay Road to Eileen Collins Boulevard

I-81 Northbound Exits 27 & 28 ramp to Airport & Taft Road.
Details for I-81 North/Taft Road Detour: North on South Bay Road to Taft Road, I-81 traffic turn right on Taft Road to I-81 north ramp.

              
LONG TERM CONTINUOUS PROJECTS: ONONDAGA COUNTY:
                                                                                                                                                           
Bridge Repair
Now through July 15 (24 hours per day, 7 days per week)
I-81 Northbound: Reduced to one lane, left and center lanes closed from Exit 30 (Cicero)
to the north shore of the Oneida River.

Milling and Paving Operations
Now through July 29 from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.:
Bridge Street Northbound and Southbound: Reduced to one lane between Erie Blvd and Enterprise Parkway.

Shoulder Work
Now through July 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
Route 298 Eastbound and Westbound: Alternating lane closures between Carrier Circle and Schepps Corners.  Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.

Bridge Repairs
Monday, July 11 to Friday, July 15, (24 hours per day, 7 days per week)
I-81 Southbound: Reduced to two lanes (instead of the usual three) starting just south of West Calthrop Avenue.  Signs will direct motorists bound for I-481 North into the left lane and I-81 South motorists into the right lane.  At Walrath Road (approximately 800 feet north of East Glen Avenue), the lanes will split to accommodate a center lane closure at the East Glen Avenue bridge over I-81.


LONG TERM PROJECTS: CAYUGA COUNTY

 Culvert Replacement
 Continuous (24 hours a day/7 days a week) now through Thursday, July 21.
Route 90 Northbound and Southbound: Single lane alternating direction traffic controlled by temporary 3 color traffic signal, south of Wells Street between the two Wells College Campus driveways in the Town of Ledyard.


LONG -TERM CONTINUOUS PROJECTS: OSWEGO COUNTY
           
Bridge Repair
Continuous (24 hours a day/7 days a week) now through approximately July 15, 2011.
I-81 Northbound Mainline: Left and center lanes closed approaching and crossing under the Bartell Road Bridge at Exit 31 (Brewerton) and over the Barge Canal/Oneida Lake Outlet Bridge in Brewerton. Access to and from Exit 31 (Bartell Road-Brewerton) will be maintained.

Bridge Repair
            Continuous (24 hours a day/7 days a week) now through approximately July 31, 2011.
             I-81 Southbound: Reduced to one lane of travel, left and center lanes closed,        
             approaching and crossing over the Barge Canal/ Oneida Lake Outlet Bridge in                                                        
          Brewerton.

      The scheduled road, ramp and lane closures listed above are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen logistical complications. Other lane, ramp or road closures not yet scheduled may occur that do not appear on this report. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
