The American Red Cross in our area is asking for your help. The organization is looking for blood donations of all types because of a critical blood shortage.

According to the Red Cross, donations this summer are the lowest they've seen in more than a decade. The Red Cross says donations can be low during the summer months since many donors may be busy with travel and also with school out of session.

All types of blood are needed, but especially "O Negative" since it can be used to treat any patient.

If you are eligible to donate blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit the Red Cross website to find a blood drive and to make an appointment.
