Be careful the next time your doorbell rings.

State police in Tompkins and Tioga counties are warning people about a driveway pavement and sealing scam.

Troopers are investigating complaints from people who say they were approached by a group of men identifying themselves as being with Cooper Paving. The men tell the homeowners they have some extra paving materials and ask if they need any repairs done to their driveways.

If the homeowner responds "yes," they then proceed to pave the entire driveway and charge the homeowner $5,000.

The people behind the alleged scam are described as while men in their late 20's to mid 30's. They are driving an older white Chevrolet pickup truck.

Anyone with information should call State Police at (607) 347-4440.

Have you seen these men in your area? How would you handle the situation if they approached you? Leave your thoughts below.
