SYRACUSE -- As temperatures soar into the 90's Sunday, plenty of people were jumping into city pools to cool down.
"It's nice in there, it's cold at first but you get adjusted to it," said Anthony Singleton. "I came out with my daughter because she just loves to swim so we came out here today to do a little swimming."
The Burnet Park pool is one of eight Syracuse pools open for the summer. Sunday it was busy, filled with kids splashing around. City officials say the pools have been packed since they opened for the season and more people are diving in this year compared to last summer.
Have you been to a pool yet this summer? Does swimming help you to cool down?
Families cooling off Sunday say beating the heat feels even better when it doesn't cost you any money.
"It's free!" said Esmeralda Martizen. "You don't have to pay for parking, so that's one of the good things. But It's blazing hot so thank goodness we have a pool nearby to get in and cool ourself down."
City pools are open from noon to 7 PM Monday through Friday and 1 PM - 7 PM on the weekends. Sometimes when it's really hot outside, those hours are extended.
