SYRACUSE -- What's a good way to beat the heat in the city this week? Well how about a week along Seneca Lake?
Monday some 77 children from six to twelve years old boarded buses for Long Point Camp on Seneca Lake.
Long Point Camp is operated by the Salvation Army. For more the 30 years, the Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area has been sending children from low-income families to camp.
For many, officials with the agency say, this is their first opportunity to experience life outside the city.
Long Point Camp consists of 138 acres with cabins, playgrounds, hiking trails, ball fields, pools, and boating.
The summer camp experience is made possible by donations to the Salvation Army's Camp Appeal.
