SYRACUSE -- Many people will turn to pools to help beat the heat.

Because of the hot temperatures, the City of Syracuse is extending its park pool hours on Thursday and Friday.

Kirk, Lincoln, Mckinley, Onondaga, Schiller, and Thornden parks will remain open until 8 o'clock to help people cool off.

Also, the Ida Denderson Senior Center will stay open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until 7 o'clock to give seniors an air conditioned place to go. The center normally only stays open until 5.

The American Red Cross of Central New York will open a cooling station on Thursday at its location on Herald Place in Syracuse. Water will be available for anyone who needs to get out of the heat.

Right now, the cooling station is only scheduled to be open on Thursday from 9am-5pm.
