SCRIBA -- Striking workers have reached a tentative agreement with management at the Nine Mile Point nuclear plants in Scriba.
The plant's operator, Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, announced the tentative agreement with IBEW Local Union 97 Friday evening. Constellation says a ratification vote is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Workers at Nine Mile 1 and 2 have been walking the picket line for two weeks. IBEW workers rejected a final contract offer from Constellation earlier this month, citing issues with the pension plan.
During the strike, management and non-union workers who have had the proper training have been running the nuclear plants. The safety inside the plants has been called into question, but Constellation has stressed it is confident those workers would be able to respond to any event.
