Dog is rescued in Constantia, charges expected
A story about this area's latest abused dog case has brought lots of information about her circumstances, and offers of help.
'Angel' was dumped from a pickup truck. Kids in Constantia saw the vehicle slow, and the driver opening the door and tossing the dog out. Marsha Rowe, who runs 'Marsha's Mulligans--a Rescue for Senior Dogs,' took her in and called her Angel.
Now, after the tv stories, 'Angel' turns out to be 'Sasha.' Marsha tells us that the shepherd mix --underweight, covered in fleas and with more signs of neglect--is already responding. Neighbors tell her the dog belonged to a man who left her with his mother when he got a new puppy. Marsha believes the pickup belongs to the man, and intends to pursue charges. She says neighbors have told her the dog had been hit by a car, previously, and that several of them had been feeding her.
Sasha is negative for heartworm, and Marsha says she'll try to put some weight on her. A flea bath and nail clipping have already changed her appearance. There are offers to adopt, and for financial help, though a Pay-Pal account to accept contributions is not set up yet. The dog is in quarantine now, and if all goes well, she plans to parade her at the Canine Carnival next month.
