FAYETTEVILLE -- The heat-wave across Central New York continued Saturday, marking the fourth straight day temperatures climbed into the 90's.
New York state extended hours at its parks -- which were packed with folks looking to stay cool. Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville opened an hour early this morning, at 10 o'clock and closed an hour later, at 8 pm. People had to wait in line in their cars just to get in. Officials at the park say they love the hot weather and say the heat wave has boosted attendance.
"This is what we're here for in the summer time, for it to be nice and sunny, to get everyone out here to enjoy the parks," said Jim Semar of Green Lakes State Park.
Many people did just that, like the Barstow family in Camillus. They say Green Lakes is the place to be on such a hot day.
"We can cool off in the water, the kids can play in the sand...it's great," said Jackie Barstow.
What have you been doing to stay cool? Did you take advantage of extended hours at State Parks?
