SYLVAN BEACH -- Police continue to investigate a fight in Sylvan Beach Sunday morning that ended with a car chase and a crash.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says the incident began inside the "Crazy Clam" around 1:30 a.m. and continued to the Canal View parking lot. Police say a 24-year-old Rome woman, Carrie Lighthall, was thrown out of the Crazy Clam, and then waited outside of the bar with others and got into a fight with five individuals from Canastota.
Deputies say those involved in the dispute then headed into their cars, and two vehicles were involved in a high-speed chase. Police say a red Toyota Carolla driven by 26-year-old Sarah Holland of Canastota was chased by a black Ford 500 driven by Lighthall. The chase reportedly took place heading north on Park Avenue and then south on Main Street, and ended when Holland’s vehicle crashed into the curb at the Sav-On service station on Route 13 in Verona.
