SYRACUSE -- Syracuse's lawyer is leaving her job.

Mayor Stephanie Miner announced today Corporation Counsel Juanita Perez Williams is resigning from her position.

"In accepting Juanita's resignation, I want to acknowledge her service to the City during the first 18 months of my administration," Mayor Miner said. "She has been a key member of our team in many areas and I wish her the best as she pursues any number of career options currently available to her."

City Hall spokesperson Bill Ryan says Perez Williams is resigning to pursue other opportunities. He says Perez Williams is under no obligation to share those with the city, and she did not.

First Assistant Corporation Counsel Joseph Barry has been named Interim Corporation Counsel. A permanent replacement will be named later. So far there is no definitive time for that announcement.
