PHILADELPHIA, JEFFERSON CO. -- A Jefferson County man was arrested Monday after police say he had sexual contact with an underage boy he met on the Internet.
State Police tell CNY Central that 31-year-old Joshua M. Lifton of Winslow Street in Watertown has been charged with felony third degree criminal sex act after their investigation revealed that he had placed an ad Craigslist looking for sex. Troopers say Lifton got a response and met the person in the Town of Philadelphia on July 17. He allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the male, who turned out to be underage.
Lifton was arraigned in the Town of Leray Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Believe it or not, but this is not the first time this month that a Watertown man has been arrested for having sex with an underage male in the Town of Philadelphia. Just last week, 40-year-old Mark Barker was charged with the same crime for nearly the same sort of incident. Do you think Craigslist should be held at least partially responsible for providing the medium for these types of alleged crimes? Or is this just a freak coincidence?
