GEDDES -- The 2011 New York State Fair will have new rides and new tickets on the Midway.
The new ticket system will use a "FunCard" instead of the usual paper tickets. The card can be used on all of the rides in both the Midway and Kiddieland. Do you think a card-based system will be easier to manage than the old tickets?
The Fair says the new rides will be "fun and exciting," with a 98-foot tall tower swing called The Sky Flyer. Thrillseekers will be lifted over 50 feet in the air and whirled around to speeds up to 30 miles per hour. It will be easy to spot at the center of the midway.
Children will be having an exciting time in Kiddieland with The Happy Swing, which swings, tips, and tilts kids back and forth for an enjoyable time.
The Ali Baba is a ride for the family, that takes passengers on a magical carpet ride. The Wind Jammer is a 22-foot inflatable slide that will have kids and parents screaming with joy.
Will these new rides entice you to come to the Fair this year? Why or why not?
The long-time favorites will still be at the Midway. The popular 126-foot Giant Wheel has a brand new LED light display you can see all over the fairgrounds. The fair will also continue to have the Unlimited Ride Days for $25, every ride, all day. The Unlimited Ride Days are August 25, 26, 29-31 and September 1st.
Discounted advanced admission tickets and FunCards will be available through August 24th.
