Another free family musical event is coming to Syracuse's Thornden Park: Syracuse Opera is presenting Man of La Mancha.

Bruce Paulsen, the WCNY-FM announcer who also sings with the opera chorus in its regular season, says the performance is a way to highlight local music talent.   Man of La Mancha is a Tony Award winning musical, but Paulsen says the Don Quixote story, with its recognizeable hits (Impossible Dream, Dulcinea, etc) is also a 'cross-over' piece for opera trained singers, and gives the audience a taste of this style of singing.

The performance is Sunday, August  7th at 3pm, at Thornden Park's Ampitheatre.  In case of  rain it will be moved to Erwin Methodist on Euclid Ave.  Syracuse Opera's website has more details.
