An Evans Mills man is facing multiple charges after the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department says he lead deputies on a chase and injured several of them.
Police say around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, deputies were called to the Sunoco Mini-Mart on 7th North St. in the Town of Salina for a larceny complaint. They attempted to stop Rennel Crayton, 19, but he took off.
Deputies say Crayton continued on 7th North Street and proceeded through Mattydale. He then traveled on Route 81 north into Oswego County, and then made an illegal U-turn and drove back into Onondaga County on Route 81. Crayton exited at the Bartell Rd. exit.
He turned into the Nice and Easy on Bartell Rd., and deputies say they were able to box his car in.
They say they had to break the driver's door window to remove Crayton from the vehicle, and Crayton became combative and had to be tased. After being tased, Crayton continued to fight with deputies before they were eventually able to arrest him.
Several deputies sustained minor injuries while trying to take Crayton into custody. He is being charged with petit larceny, unlawfully fleeing police, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marijuana, and numerous vehicle and traffic charges.
