SYRACUSE -- A Skaneateles man will spend the next five years in prison for operating two marijuana grow houses.
31-year-old Michael Calogero was sentenced in federal court to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. He will also have to forfeit a home and barn on State Street Road in Skaneateles. He'll also have to forfeit $383,000.
Last month, Calogero pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture more than 100 marijuana plants. He admits that from November 2009 through April 2010, he conspired with Joshua Cole and others to manufacture marijuana plants in two separate locations, at 435 Boscobel Lane in Moravia and 4000 State Street Road in Skaneateles.
At both locations, authorities say, Calogero and Cole set up and maintained large marijuana manufacturing operations that produced more than 500 pot plants.
The arrests stem from a join investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, the Auburn Police Department, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office, and the Cayuga County District Attorney's Office.
