Big back to school savings, are just a few clicks away on social media sites.
"I love shopping, I love facebook," said Julie Ondreko. And her love for both has her saving money.
She likes her favorite stores on Facebook, including Express and Forever 21, to keep tabs on the exclusive deals they offer. "It's usually a 15 or 20 percent discount. If you go in and say certain words, or phrases, that are specifically on Facebook you get the discount that way." she said.
Nearly every major retailer now has a Facebook page, trying to catch the eye of the social network's 750-million users. Many stores also tweet deals on Twitter.
American Eagle has launched a "best shot" campaign, awarding gift cards to some fans who take pictures in American Eagle jeans.
"It's a good idea for the stores," said Serena Kotch who shops for her two boys. "I'm certainly a sales shopper. The prices have gone up so drastically over the last few years. I don't buy anything without a coupon or a sale, especially with the teenagers because they are very label conscious."
Starting August 4th, Target will launch a new campaign on it's Facebook page. The store will offer big discounts on back to school items. Each day they will post a deal and the first 1,000 people to like it will get an online coupon that could save you 40 to 50 percent off that item.
The back to school rush will be a big test for retailers. To see if social media sales actually pay off by having customers log off Facebook and come into the store to shop.
