SU wide receiver Marcus Sales was back in court today for a brief appearance on felony drug charges filed against him on Saturday.
Sales appeared briefly in city court before his case was adjourned to February.
Sales' defense attorney Michael Vavonese says they are in the process of negotiating with the District Attorney's office. He says he expects the matter to be resolved before the February appearance.
Sales was arrested Friday night on felony drug charges after police pulled him and his 25 year old brother over for running a red light near Midland and Ballantyne Avenues. Police say they smelled marijuana in the car and a search revealed drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Sales and his brother are charged with 5th and 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Sales' brother, Michael Sales Jr. also appeared in court today on the same charges and had is case adjourned to February as well.
Syracuse University has said they are conducting an internal investigation, and Sales is still a member of the football program. Sales is entering his senior season. He has caught 68 passes for 898 yards and 5 touchdowns in his SU career.
