SYRACUSE -- A man was taken to the hospital following a fire in Syracuse on Thursday afternoon.

It happened at a two family home at 244-246 Columbus Avenue. That's near Westcott Street. Crews on the scene say when they got there, they found one man laying on the lawn. They say he may have fallen down the stairs while trying to get out.

Firefighters say the damage was contained to one room, with some extension into the attic. No one else was inside. The cause remains under investigation.
