Jeramyah Baxtron was reported missing Wednesday night
Jeramyah Baxtron, 13, was found safe in East Syracuse on Thursday afternoon, according to Onondaga County sheriffs deputies.
CLAY -- A teenager who went missing in Clay has been found.
"I just feel this overwhelming sense of relief. It's been a nightmare," said Jeramyah's mother Zahira Baxtron.
Our Caitlin Nuclo was talking with the mother at their home, when an Onondaga County sheriffs deputy came to the house and told the family that Jeramyah Baxtron, 13, of 2114 Cotswold Court was located. The teen was found in East Syracuse, where the family used to live, according to sheriffs deputies.
Deputies say Baxtron was with a friend.
Baxtron was reported missing by a family member Wednesday around 10 p.m. According to deputies, Baxtron left his home around 6 p.m. after a disagreement with his father, and did not come back.
"We all pulled together, in every family there is going to be trials and tribulations and it just up to the family to work it out," said father Derrick Baxtron.
Onondaga County sheriffs deputies told us the Air One helicopter was used Wednesday night to try and help locate the missing child.
Family members said they were concerned about Baxtron since he is autistic and bi-polar, and had not taken his medication since yesterday.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says the sooner you contact police about a missing child, the better. "It's very important, the longer you wait the further away they can be and we want to be notified right away," he said.
Police also advise parents to have an up-to-date picture of your child on hand. Also, keep tabs on your kids friends, knowing who they would turn to for help can give police a good place to start.
