UTICA -- A registered sex offender has been arrested once again after police say he tried to look up child pornography on a public computer.
According to Utica Police, in March officers received a complaint that someone had been searching for child pornography on a computer at a business with public internet access. The name of the business was not made available. Police say their investigation revealed that 41-year-old Sven Borchers of Genesee Street in Utica allegedly searched for "pre-teen pornography" on several occasions while using the computer in question.
Borchers has been charged with possession of a sexual performance of a child, which is a class E felony. Police say Borchers is a level one sex offender. According to the Utica Daily News, he was arrested in December 2009 on charges of distributing child pornography.
Utica Police detectives were assisted in their investigation by the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center and the District Attorney's Office.
