SYRACUSE -- If you're headed into the Westcott area, keep your eyes open for new "Tow Away Zones." Syracuse Police are cracking down on parking violations in that neighborhood.

Because of persistent parking problems, the City of Syracuse is turning some Westcott streets into "Tow Away Zones." These are the streets on the list:

-100-200 blocks of Dell Street

-700-800 blocks of S. Beech Street

-100-300 blocks of Harvard Place

-100 block of Victoria Place

-100 block of Concord Place

The point is to prevent and correct hazardous situations that arise because of parking restriction violators. According to the City of Syracuse, emergency vehicles have had trouble getting through the Westcott area safely because of illegally parked vehicles.

Do you park your vehicle illegally in the Westcott area?  Have you been ticketed?

Drivers are being warned that parking illegally on these newly targeted streets could lead to their cars being towed, at the owner's expense. Ticket and towing fees can exceed $150.00.
