TORREY, YATES CO. -- A camp counselor from Western New York lost his life on Seneca Lake this weekend.
It happened around 6 p.m. Friday at Camp Whitman in the town of Torrey.
24-year-old Graham Andruss, of Bath, was snorkeling with a weight belt in about 12 feet of water when he drowned. State Police say he was with other counselors when he suffered cramping and was unable to keep himself afloat.
Andruss was pulled from the water after several attempts by camp staff and was resuscitated at the scene. He was later transported to Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan for treatment and then airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania where he died.
