VOLNEY, OSWEGO CO. -- Two 17-year-olds are accused of driving drunk over the weekend in Oswego County.
A 17-year-old girl from Oswego was arrested around 2:15 a.m. Saturday. Oswego County Sheriff's deputies say she was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy on CR 45 when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of CR 57 in the Town of Volney, driving into the Seneca Hill garage. Deputies say she crashed through one of the overhead doors, causing damage to one of the overhead doors, the structure and equipment inside the building.
She's charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol - under the age of 21 and failed to stop at a stop sign. The girl was arraigned in the Town of Volney Court and released on her own recognizance. She's scheduled to be back in court on September 12th.
Her passenger, a 17-year-old boy from Minetto, was also arrested. Deputies say after the crash, he got into the driver's seat and tried to back the vehicle out of the building.
He's charged for driving while intoxicated, driving with .08 of one percent or more of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol - under age 21.
He was sent to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond. He's also due back in court on September 12th.
Neither teen's name is being released because of their age.
