EAST SYRACUSE -- A local company has been officially taken over.
Saab AB announced today it has finished its acquisition of the Sensis Corporation, which is based in East Syracuse. The two companies announced the $155 million deal in June. At the time, company leaders told CNY Central the deal was not likely to mean job losses.
Sensis has been renamed to the Saab Sensis Corporation. According to Saab, the company will continue operations in the U.S. as a subsidiary within the Saab group.
"This acquisition is in line with our ambition to focus on selected markets and grow our core business. Saab Sensis' offering and their strong local presence in the U.S. within radar and sensors and a world-leading position in the Air Traffic Management market is an excellent complement to our operations," says Hakan Buskhe, President and CEO.
Saab AB is a Swedish defense contractor. Since 1985, Sensis has developed radar systems for airports and militaries.
