SKANEATELES -- An Onondaga County woman has pleaded guilty to federal tax fraud charges.
50-year-old Dorothea Wied Blomquist, of Foxfield Drive in Skaneateles, entered a guilty plea in federal court to failure to report a foreign bank account and tax fraud. Under the terms of a plea deal, Blomquist will spend 16 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
She has also agreed to forfeit certain assets to the government. She is required to pay all taxes, interest and penalties owned to the IRS and the state.
Blomquist is scheduled to be sentenced on December 20th. She will be required to surrender to U.S. Marshals after her sentencing.
Blomquist is the ex-wife of Charles Blomquist, who is serving a seven year prison term after pleading guilty in federal court to charges of money laundering, failure to report foreign bank accounts, and tax fraud. Charles Blomquist was accused of placing money in several foreign bank accounts without reporting it, failing to pay taxes on the interest earned, and hiding the true ownership of their Skaneateles home. The lakefront mansion was instead placed in Dorothea Blomquist's name.
Charles Blomquist admitted that he used money from unlawful activities to pay for the multi-million dollar home.
