NELSON, MADISON CO. -- Investigators say the fire that destroyed Cazenovia Equipment was an accident.

Madison County Fire Coordinator Joe DeFrancisco confirms to CNYCentral the fire was ruled accidental, but the exact cause is undetermined. DeFrancisco say it is not suspicious, but they are unable to determine a precise cause.

Investigators have determined the fire started in the parts area of the showroom, but just what sparked the flames remains a mystery.

The flames broke out just after midnight on August 12th at the company's headquarters at 3500 Route 20 in the Town of Nelson. Several fire companies were called in to help fight the flames, which died down and then sparked back up with a vengeance later in the morning.

Meanwhile, the owners of Cazenovia Equipment issued an update to customers on their website, saying "On behalf of the Frazee Family, let me start off by thanking everyone for offering your thoughts, support and prayers. It has been a touching and uplifting experience to realize the dedication and support offered from our employees, customers and communities."

The fire damaged the company's communications system, affecting communication to stores in Chittenango, Cortland, Clinton, Herkimer, Oneonta, Lafayette, Lowville, Sandy Creek and Watertown. Owners have communicated with customers through cell phones and e-mail.

Telephone service was just restored to the company's stores with the exception of the Cazenovia location. They expect to have that restored sometime the week of August 22nd.

For now, the process of recovering from this fire continues, but the company's owners vow to move on. "We could not be prouder to have such a great team working with us to make our entire organization thicker and stronger," the owners said.
