Fire at Olcotts Hotel in Oneida, Saturday morning. 19 residents are homeless.
Oneida's Armory has now been opened as an emergency shelter, after 19 adults are homeless because of an early morning fire,
The alarm to Olcotts Hotel, on West Railroad Street in Oneida, came in at 5:09 Saturday morning. Oneida City firefighters called in mutual aid from four surrounding communities to help fight the fire at the old historic railroad hotel, which is now a popular bar with several one room apartments above.
Oneida firefighters say the alarm came in as a tree fire, but when they got to the scene, there was heavy fire. The first concern was getting everyone out of the upper floors....there are no injuries reported.
Investigators are still on the scene, looking for the fire's cause.
