CNY Central wins media milkshake contest
GEDDES -- CNY Central is the 2011 Celebrity Milkshake Champion at the New York State Fair.
It's Dairy Day at the fair, and as part of the festivities many media teams create milkshakes to be judged by New York's Dairy Princesses.
Our team included Laura Hand, Lisa Spitz, Brian Mueller, and Niko Tamurian. After spinning the "wheel of yum" the team was handed pistachio pudding as its "secret ingredient" and turned it into the most outstanding milkshake in the entire contest, which featured local newspapers, television, and radio stations. The milkshake, named "Princess Pistachio Potion" after the Dairy Princesses helping the competitors out, was a hit and won first place. The concoction was made of vanilla and pistachio ice cream, with the pistachio jello added in for extra flavor, and a 'garnish' of pineapple and banana chunks on green straws.
The team liked the fruity flavor, with a great vanilla taste. The color was a pale green, not as dark as a 'shamrock shake'. The judges were poker-faced as they tasted, and the team actually thought they did not like the potion, but it was the big winner!
"This is one of the best moments in my career" Niko Tamurian said, tongue-in-cheek as he launched his "Got Milk?" apron into the crowd gathered by the CNY Central booth during our live noon broadcast. The win was extra sweet (no pun intended) after the CNY Central team comprised of the same members fell short last year.
"It was a tough loss last year, but we learned from our mistakes and came out on top this year" added Brian Mueller.
There were high fives all around, and on our noon newscast Niko threw his apron into the crowd to celebrate. Fortunately no one doused us with the winning product!
"This is one of the most fun parts of the Fair" Lisa Spitz said. She added "I'm so proud to be a part of a great of the team with our team captain Laura Hand".
The team says they had a lot of fun, and hope their viewers enjoyed watching them figure out how to make the winning product!
