GREENE, CHENANGO CO. (AP) -- Police in the Southern Tier are investigating a two-car accident that claimed the lives of a mother and her 6-year-old daughter.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says 29-year-old Amanda Demuth was driving her Saturn SL southbound Monday afternoon on a county road in the Town of Greene when a northbound car apparently crossed the center line and struck her car. The Oxford woman and her daughter Amara died at the scene.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that another child in the Saturn, 8-year-old Gavin Demuth, was hospitalized with a broken arm.
The driver of the other car was not injured.
