'Apple Country,' in the Fair Horticulture Building, is doing a brisk business of promoting a 'growing' New York product. Early fall apples, cider and applesauce are low-cost Fair edibles, and visitors to the booth---across from the Maple exhibit---can also get information on U-pick and the different varieties of apples and when they ripen.

David McClurg, with the NY Apple Association, says proceeds from sales go to the American Cancer Society, a good fit because they also promote healthy eating.
