If you're planning on using the State Thruway today, think again.

Due to heavy rain and rising water, Thruway officials plan to close a stretch of the highway, in both directions, from exit 24 in Albany to exit 33 in Verona, according to the Thruway Authority.

Drivers are urged to avoid the Mohawk Valley and seek alternate routes.

Also, the off ramp at exit 28 is closed in both directions because of flooding at nearby streets.

Part of the Thruway shut down almost two weeks ago thanks to floods from Tropical Storm Irene.
