CANTON -- A Gouverneur woman is accused of leaving the scene of an accident after hitting a pedestrian.

It happened around 8:42 p.m. Tuesday on State Route 68 in Canton near the entrance to SUNY Canton.

State Police say 51-year-old Lynette Nicholl, of 180 Rock Island Street, left the scene of the crash after hitting a 22-year-old man from Virginia.

The victim was transported to Canton Potsdam Hospital with a fractured ankle/leg and minor abrasions.

Nicholl turned herself in about an hour after he crash. She was issued a ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Canton Court on September 28.
