SYRACUSE (AP) -- A 28-year-old man in upstate New York has pleaded not guilty to shooting three companions, two of them fatally, while high on marijuana and a hallucinogenic drug made from embalming fluid.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that a state court in Syracuse ordered Martinous Hudson at his arraignment Wednesday to stand trial Jan. 30.

Police say Hudson and his friends were driving around in a car on August 6 when he suddenly began ranting incoherently about the devil, pulled a gun and opened fire on his companions. They say Hudson had been smoking a marijuana cigarette dipped in embalming fluid and PCP.

Hudson is charged with killing 17-year-old Lavonna Hamilton and 24-year-old Maurice Miller and wounding 24-year-old Eric Bellamy, all from Syracuse.
