LAPEER, CORTLAND CO. -- State police are investigating a deadly farm tractor rollover in Cortland County that left a husband and wife dead.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. Sunday in a wooded area off Jennings Creek Road in the Town of Lapeer.

State police say 49-year-old Randall Courtney was operating a farm tractor with his wife, 60-year-old Margaret Courtney.

After crossing a creek bed, police say Courtney tried to traverse an embankment along the side of the creek. The farm tractor flipped over backwards, pinning both the driver and passenger underneath, while in the creek.

Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation into the accident continues.
