SYRACUSE -- Having a missing child is often a parents worst nightmare, and today bike riders in Central New York are raising money to help fund educational programs to help combat kidnapping.

The 100-mile trip begins in Van Buren at the CNY Family Sports Center at 8 a.m. Prior to the start of the ride, the sister of Heidi Allen, Lisa Buske, will talk about her sister's disappearance. Allen was only 18-years-old when she was kidnapped in 1994 in New Haven.

Today's Syracuse Ride for Missing Children will spread out across Syracuse. The Syracuse City School District is also getting involved.

Bikers will stop at Salem Hyde Elementary around 11:30 a.m. to talk to students about staying safe. They will then 'ride by' Van Duyn Elementary before making two more stops at Meachem Elementary and LeMoyne Elementary.

The trip is expected to finish around 5:25 p.m. Back at the CNY Family Sports Center. Click here for a complete minute-by-minute rundown of today's ride.
