Chenango County Sheriff's Deputies now identify  the person killed in a mobile home fire early this morning as the owner, 55 year old Mary DiDanato.  She was found near the front door of the residence.  A smoldering cigarette is believed to be the fatal fire cause, though investigators have not completely ruled out an electrical problem.

Norwich Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo says they were called to a single-wide mobile home  just after 3:30 Saturday morning, after several reports of a fire.  The structure was already engulfed in flames, but rescuers were able to pull the lone occupant out, at 308 County Route 34.  DiDanato was pronounced dead at the scene.
