ROME, ONEIDA CO. (AP) -- One of New York's biggest trout hatcheries is back in operation after a full renovation.
Officials say the Rome Fish Hatchery in Oneida County was acquired by the state in 1932 and demolished in 2009 because it was outdated.
The new facility includes an area for holding young fish and a visitor center for individuals and school groups interested in the fish-raising operation.
The hatchery produces nearly 160,000 pounds of brook, rainbow and brown trout each year for stocking the state's waterways.
